Figures and Portraits
In the mid-1980s, Steffa Reis dedicated a distinct group of works on paper to the classical motif of the female figure. Working with live models, she presented them in various postures, at times dressed in striking robes. In these works she was not concerned with rendering a likeness, while in her portraits she attempteded to capture the essence of a person, rendering their main features in just a few lines.
